Your Privacy & Confidentiality
You have the right to confidential healthcare — whatever your age.
You can book and attend appointments on your own if you want. Our reception team can help you arrange this without involving a parent or carer. If you come with someone (like a parent, carer or friend), you can still ask to speak to the doctor or nurse privately for part of your appointment.
What you tell us stays private.
This includes if you’re under 16. You can talk to us openly about things like:
- Sex and relationships
- Pregnancy and contraception
- Drugs or alcohol
- Feeling low, anxious, or stressed
We will only share information if it’s needed for your care — for example, if we refer you to a hospital or specialist. We’ll only share what’s necessary, and you can tell us if there’s anything you’d prefer not to be passed on.
Your safety comes first.
If we’re worried that you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, we may need to involve another adult or service. If that happens, we will always try to talk to you first and explain what’s going on.
In rare situations (for example, some serious infectious illnesses), we may have to share information by law — but this only happens in very specific circumstances.
